Ekta Kapoor thinks that by creating a taboo against sex, we are actually encouraging sexual violence.
She said, “We do not realise that when we start prohibiting and create a sort of taboo against sex, we actually encourage sexual crime.”
In an interview with IANS, Kapoor added,”A certain sense of prohibition leads to some kind of odd need. We’re not getting uncomfortable with anything non-consensual. We are uncomfortable with sex.”

Ekta Kapoor is trying to change the scenario by making bolder content for the people. But she does find it easier to tell such stories on her digital platform, Alt Balaji, than she does on a family-friendly medium like Television. “I’m actually able to do TV now a lot more easily because I’m able to do this. Thanks to this vent for creative expression, I can tell stories of importance and then come back and say something way more sanitised on TV,” she admitted.
