Kamal Haasan paid homage to his close friend filmmaker RC Sakthi, who passed away yesterday.
Kamal was launched as a lead actor in Sakthi’s directorial debut Unarchigal, a 1976 movie that was considered way ahead of its time.
Speaking to reporters, Kamal Haasan said that Sakthi’s demise is a great loss for him. “From being a friend, Sakthi went on to become a family member. Everybody should have a friend like Sakthi. Besides being a great friend and brother, he was a first-class fan of mine,” he said.
Celebrities paid their respects to the late director yesterday.
According to The Hindu, Sakthi began his career as an assistant to theatre artiste Subbhu Arumugan, and worked as an assistant director in Annai Velankani. In a career that spanned over a decade, Sakthi made 17 films.
