While Kumbalangi Nights is winning rave reviews, Fahadh Faasil’s second release of the year has already been announced. Titled Athiran, the movie features Sai Pallavi in the female lead and is directed by debutant Vivek.
Athiran has been written by P.F.Mathews – the scriptwriter of last year’s critically acclaimed movie Ee. Ma. Yau. Talking to Silverscreen, the writer says, “It’s a thriller set in a mental hospital in a hill station and Fahadh Faasil essays the role of doctor.” A major portion of the movie has been shot in Ooty.
“Sai Pallavi plays one of the two lead characters in the movie. Prakash Raj appears in pivotal role, although it is not a full-fledged one,” he says. Atul Kulkarni plays a character that appears throughout the movie. “The film is currently in post-production,” he adds. Ranji Panicker is also part of the cast. The first look of the movie was launched by Mohanlal.
Music for the movie is composed by debutant Jayahari. Music composer Ghibran is scoring the background music. The movie is scheduled for release in April.
Fahadh Faasil is being appreciated for his performance as Shammi – a psychopathic villain in Kumbalangi Nights. He also has Anwar Rasheed’s Trance gearing up for release this year.
Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi makes a comeback to Malayalam after three years. After debuting with Nivin Pauly’s Premam in 2015, the actress was last seen opposite Dulquer Salmaan in Sameer Thahir’s Kali in 2016.
She also has been busy with other languages. Her recent Telugu projects include Fida, Kanam and Padi Padi Leche Manasu, and Diya and Maari 2 in Tamil.
Rowdy Baby from Maari 2 featuring Sai Pallavi and Dhanush has become the most viewed Tamil video on YouTube surpassing the actor’s Why This Kolaveri Di. The song was choreographed by Prabhu Deva. The actress is currently awaiting the release of Selvaraghavan’s NGK, where she plays the lead with Suriya.
