Indian Cricketers Behind Shots Outside The Cricket Field Too

Cricket and cinema are undoubtedly the most celebrated spheres of India. When audiences get to witness both together, it’s nothing short of interesting. We’ve had Sachin Tendulkar feature in Sachin: A Billion Dreams, a multilingual sports documentary about his life, and making a cameo in the 1985 musical drama Kabhie Ajnabi The and 2003 sports drama Stumped, MS Dhoni in the 2019 multilingual web series Roar of The Lion, Yuvraj Singh in the 2008 animated Bollywood film Jumbo, Irfan Pathan participating in the Colors TV popular dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Sreesanth featuring in Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, and Harbhajan Singh doing cameos in Bollywood and debuting in the 2013 Punjabi film Bhaji in Problem.

The latest is that cricketers Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, and Sreesanth will be debuting in Kollywood for Chiyaan Vikram 58, Dikkiloona and an untitled film headlined by Hansika Motwani, respectively. The cricketers will be following the footsteps of Trinidadian cricketer Dwayne Bravo who featured in the song ‘Yenda (Dalmeni Dalmeni)’ from Chithiram Pesuthadi 2, a hyperlink drama helmed by director Rajan Madhav.

The cricketers took to Twitter and Instagram to share the news.

Chiyaan Vikram 58 is being directed by Imaikka Nodigal‘s Ajay Gnanamuthu. The action film is being produced by Lalith Kumar’s Seven Screen Studio and has AR Rahman composing music for it. Sivakumar Vijayan is the cinematographer and Amaran, the art director. The film commenced with a shoot on October 4 and is reportedly going to be shot in multiple locations across India and abroad. It will hit the screens in April 2020.

Dikkiloona directed by debutant Karthik Yogi features Santhanam in the lead role. It is reportedly a triple-action comedy entertainer bankrolled by KJR Studios’ Kotapadi J Rajesh and Soldiers Factory’s K.S Sinish. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been roped in as the composer for the film which is slated for release in April 2020.

Harbhajan Singh is popular among tweeps, especially for his Tamil tweets, as he’s a part of Chennai Super Kings. He recently launched the first look poster of the GV Prakash starrer Bachelor on Twitter.

The untitled horror-comedy headlined by Hansika Motwani will be helmed by director duo Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan. It is being produced by P Ranganathan under the Sri Vaari Films banner. The team will reportedly begin shooting in December and plans to release the film in summer 2020. The summer of 2020 sure is going to be interesting for Tamil cinema and cricket fans.
