Music director and TV anchor James Vasanthan has criticised the performances at the MS Viswanathan tribute concert, saying he felt ‘let down’ by the singers’ renditions. The tribute concert,  titled ‘Ennule MSV’, had been organised by music director Ilaiyaraaja on July 26 at the Kamarajar Arangam. The event was attended by a number of celebrities, including Rajinikanth.

Vasanthan had posted a few pictures from the concert, saying that he missed the artistry of the ‘Super Singers’ from Vijay TV. Angered by his criticism, Ilaiyaraaja fans posted several hate messages on his Facebook page. In response, Vasanthan posted:

“Lot of Ilayaraaja fans are upset with me cos I told the truth that MSV Tribute show was far from good. Though I had access to free passes, I bought the maximum ticket only to pay respects to these great masters. But as a music lover and fan of these legends i felt I was let down. Pls verify with the general public who witnessed the show tonight.”
