Farhan Akhtar will play Dawood Ibrahim in a new film. Titled Daddy, the film has Arjun Rampal in the project. Akhtar and Rampal co-starred in Rock On 2 that released earlier this year.
A press release says that Akhtar signed on for the film as soon as Rampal approached him. The duo shot for the role in July. Later, the film’s director Ashim Ahluwalia felt that Akhtar’s role could be expanded a bit, and has planned a longer schedule this time for the actor.

Indian Express reports that Akhtar was seen on the sets of Daddy dressed in a 70’s era outfit, and sporting a wig. In the film, Rampal plays gangster-turned-politican Arun Gawli.
Arjun Rampal is said to have interacted with Arun Gawli, a murder convict, to prepare for the role. His meeting with the gangster generated a lot of controversy. The film also marks the Hindi debut of actress Aishwarya Rajesh. If all goes well, the film will release in early 2017.
