The first look poster of the film was released by the team on social media on Thursday.

7 Days 6 Nights stars Raju’s son and actor Sumanth Ashwin along with debutante Mehar Chawal in the lead roles. The film is produced by Sumanth and S Rajinikanth.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Raju said, “When booking a hotel room, we are usually asked how many days and nights we need it for. That is what the title refers to. The film is based on what happens to two youngsters who are on a trip. The kind of problems they already have, the things that happen during the trip, heartbreaks, meeting new people… the film will touch upon all these things.”

The Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 gave him the time to write multiple film scripts, one of which was 7 Days 6 Nights, Raju added. “However, after I finished the final draft, I chose to make this film first and started pre-production in May.”

The film went on floors on June 21 in Hyderabad and was shot there by cinematographer Nani Chamidisetty over a period of 22 days. “We have completed 60% of the shooting and will begin the next schedule after the rains stop. We will be filming in Goa, Udupi, Gokarna, and Bengaluru,” the filmmaker said.

The film’s music is composed by 15-year-old Samarth Gollapudi, whom Raju met through a mutual friend. “I found him to be a youngster who listens to world music and creates interesting new music of his own. I thought he would be the right fit for this film,” said the director.

On choosing such a young composer, Raju added, “I introduced composer Devi Sri Prasad through my production banner with the film Devi when he was just 19 years old. Later, I roped him in for Varsham, which became a blockbuster. That film also featured then-upcoming star Prabhas. People asked me why I chose Prabhas when there were many big stars. I went with my intuition. People also questioned me about backing a dancer like Prabhu Deva as a director when I made Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. However, all these choices worked out for the best.”

On the album of 7 Days 6 Nights, the filmmaker said, “We have planned four songs for now, but will decide as we go about shooting.”

When asked about the release, Raju said the team will be ready with the final copy of the film by the second week of September after which they will decide on the release date. “A few OTT platforms have approached us, but we have not decided anything yet. We want to evaluate the situation with theatres since that is our primary choice,” he added.
