Starring Amitabh BachchanPrabhas, and Deepika Padukone, the film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, which also backed Ashwin’s last feature film Mahanati. Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt are co-producing the project.

The director took to Twitter to request technical assistance from the chairman of Mahindra Group for the science-fiction film. “A few vehicles we are building for this (film’s) world are unique and beyond the tech of today. If this film does what it is supposed to, it will be the pride of our nation,” he said.

Ashwin further added that while the makers of Project K have a “talented, fully Indian team of engineers and designers,” they could use some help as “such a film has never been attempted before.” He went on to say, “It would be an honour if you can help us engineer the future.”

Mahindra, an active social media user, is known for interacting with the public and sharing inspirational videos, pictures, and so forth.

The businessman responded positively to the filmmaker’s request. He wrote, “How could we refuse an opportunity to help you envision the future of mobility, Nag Ashwin?” He added that the Mahindra group’s Chief of Global Product Development, R Velusamy, would provide the necessary support to the team. Anand also mentioned that Velusamy developed the XUV700 car and thus “already has his feet in the future.”

It is notable that Prabhas has earlier collaborated with Mahindra for an advertisement of the TUV 300 car, after the success of Baahubali

Project K was announced in 2019. However, the film’s production was stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It finally went on floors at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad on June 24, 2021. Bachchan was the first actor to begin shooting his portions. Ashwin has previously shared that Bachchan plays a full-length role in Project K, and one so important that an early draft of the film was named after his character.

The film, which will reportedly be made in multiple Indian languages, as well as in English and other foreign languages, is set to mark Padukone’s Telugu debut.
