First-Look Of Amala Akkineni’s ‘The High Priestess’ Releases

Actor Amala Akkineni will be seen in a new Telugu web series titled The High Priestess, directed by Pushpa Ignatius. She stars with Sunainaa, who plays an important role. The series premiers on Zee5 Telugu, on April 25.

The first-look poster released recently, and it seems like Amala might be featured as someone in a powerful position. It has also been reported that several other Telugu and Tamil actors star in the series, and Amala’s is the central character.

Amala, who has now joined social media, posted the first-look on Twitter.

According to an IFlicks report, a source close to the production said, “Amala will be seen in an interesting avatar and that’s one of the reasons she agreed to be a part of it.” The shoot began end of December last year. Other cast members will be announced officially soon.

Amala Akkineni was last seen in Tamil as the lead actor of the film Karpura Mullai in 1991, and the two Malayalam films – Ente Sooryaputhrikku and Ulladakkam the same year. She then took a break after her marriage to Nagarjuna in 1992.

In 2012, she made her come back to cinema with a supporting role in the Telugu movie Life is Beautiful. She acted in Hindi films like Listen, Amaya (2013) and Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015). She was also a part of Uyirmei, a Zee Tamil series in which she played a doctor, and recently starred as an advocate in the Malayalam film C/O Saira Banu in 2017.

The High Priestess was launched late last year, with the announcement that actor Sunainaa also plays a key role. Speaking about it, Sunainaa told Cinema Express that her character was intense. “Since this is a web-series, it will be definitely intense without anything being toned down. It is an emotional character. In fact, I told Pushpa I wanted to be part of the project.”

Best known for Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s Vijay Antony-starrer Kaali, Sunainaa made her entry into the web-series world with Nila Nila Odi Vaa, a vampire-based romantic comedy thriller, hosted by Viu, and directed by JS Nandhini. She later also acted in Halitha Shameem’s Sillu Karupetti.
