First-Look Of Jyotika’s ‘Raatchasi’ Out; Film Releases In June

at 36 Vayadhinile Success Meet

The first-look poster of Jyotika-starrer Raatchasi is out, confirming speculations that she plays a school teacher in the film. The official trailer will release at 4 pm today.

The film is written and directed by Sy. Gowthamraj. In the poster, Jyotika poses in a sari as N Geetha Rani. Reports say that she plays a government school teacher who is determined to improve the standard of her school.

An executive from Dream Warrior Pictures told Silverscreen that the post-production work is currently on. “The trailer will reveal more about her character in the movie. The film will release in June and a date will be announced soon.” he said.

The film is Gowthamraj’s first directorial, and also stars Poornima Bhagyaraj, Sathyan, Hareesh Peradi and Kavitha Bharathi in important roles. Sean Roldan is the music composer and cinematography is by Gokul Benoy. Philomin Raj is the editor and Pawal Kumar the art director. SR Prakashbabu and SR Prabhu are the producers of the movie.

This is Jyotika’s second outing as a school teacher after Gautham Menon’s hit Kaakha Kaakha in 2003. There has been curiosity around the title Raatchasi. The filmmakers said it was initially used only as a working title, but they later decided on it for the final title too. In March, a school set worth Rs 50 lakh was erected in Chennai where most of the shoot took place there. The film wrapped up by April, after which Jyotika began work on her other projects.

She is currently shooting for Malayalam director Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming film co-starring Karthi, Sathyaraj and Anson Paul. The first-look of Jackpot, her film with Revathy, was also released recently. They play cops in the action-comedy. Jyotika has also signed her next film with director Fredrick, and shoot will begin from the second half of this year.
