First-Look Of Vaibhav-Nandita Swetha’s ‘Taana’ Is Out

The first-look poster of Vaibhav and Nandita Swetha-starrer Taana is out. The film is a horror comedy, directed by Yuvaraj Subramani who is a former associate of Selvaraghavan. Director Karthik Subbaraj released the poster featuring Vaibhav as a cop.

Speaking to Silverscreen, Yuvaraj said, “He is a middling, cowardly person who doesn’t meet anybody’s expectations of him. A cop is usually seen as brave, but here the hero is afraid of most things, including some supernatural elements.”

Nandita Swetha plays a technician in a hospital and Yogi Babu is Vaibhav’s friend, an employee in a debt collection agency. Actor Pandiarajan will be seen as Vaibhav’s father in the film.

The title of the movie refers to police officers who are called ‘taanakaaran’, particularly around Vellore district where the film is set. “Vaibhav’s character comes from a family of police people, and he is forced to become one too. With humour and supernatural elements, the film looks at how he navigates this. It is a story for all audiences,” said director Yuvaraj.

Producer Kalaimamani of Nobel Movies, who has backed films like Kaateri, Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, Hello Naan Pei Pesuren, had said that his decision to back yet another horror-comedy was because of Yuvaraj’s fresh approach to the story. “He has a good story in mind and he knows how to convey it to the audience,” he said.

Vishal Chandrasekhar has composed the music and background score for the film. GK Prasanna is the editor and GRN Shiva is the cinematographer. The film began shooting in September last year. Post-production and editing work is currently on, and release announcements can be expected soon.

Meanwhile, both Vaibhav and Nandita were part of other horror comedies recently. Vaibhav is awaiting the release of Kaateri, and Nandita has Selvaraghavan’s long-delayed Nenjam Marappathillai.
