From Khudabaksh To Firangi,Thugs Of Hindostan’s First Look Posters Draw Instant Comparisons To Pirates Of The Caribbean Franchise

Yash Raj Films – the makers of the Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindustan, have been unveiling first look posters of the main characters from the film for a week now. Vijaya Krishna Acharya, the man behind movies like Dhoom 3 and Tashan, directs the movie based on a Philip Meadows Taylor novel titled Confessions of a Thug.

The first motion poster to surface introduced Amitabh Bachchan’s character Khudabaksh. The silhouette of a bird emerges from a corner in the motion poster, only to reveal itself to be an eagle which then slowly glides down to a ship that is manned by a sword-wielding Bachchan. The close resemblance that Bachchan and the background bear with the world of Pirates of the Caribbean is hard to miss.

Fatima Sana Shaikh’s look as Zafira was unveiled next. With this poster, the action shifts from water to land. Shaikh is seen wielding a bow and arrow with a burning fort in the background. The movie is Shaikh’s first release since 2016’s Dangal.

Perhaps the least popular one among the lot, the third poster features Lloyd Owen plays John Clive – an English general who is the main antagonist in the film.

Katrina Kaif plays Suraiyya – a dancer. She is shown dancing in the court of British officers. The movie marks Kaif’s first release of the year. She was last seen alongside Salman Khan in last year’s Tiger Zinda Hai where she reprised her role from the original.

Aamir Khan’s look as Firangi which surfaced today shows him sitting on a mule with a bottle reading ‘pirate’ hanging by his waist. With a fort, a ship and eagles adorning the background, this poster is an amalgamation of what has already been showed in the previous ones. Aamir Khan’s character wears a green Military-style Coat and a slightly tattered hat, but the one detail that draws instant comparisons to Pirates of The Caribbean’s Jack Sparrow is Firangi’s slightly inebriated state.

Thugs of Hindostan releases during the Diwali weekend on November 8.
