Shetty, who is making his directorial debut with the upcoming film, has also written the script of Gam Gam Ganesha. The film is produced by Kedar Selagamsetty and Vamsi Karumanchi.

The director says it is primarily an entertainer with a non-linear screenplay. “Three words that will summarise the film are fear, greed, and conspiracy. Gam gam means creation in Sanskrit and Anand Deverakonda plays an energetic, carefree youngster named Ganesha. There is also a Ganesha festival that forms a main part of the story. This is not a devotional film, but the script will have a point about karma,” he adds.

“I started to write the story about six years back and it took about a year to convert it into a full-fledged script,” says Shetty, adding that he met the producers of Gam Gam Ganesha while he was working as an associate screenwriter with filmmaker Vijayendra Prasad. “Once the producers and Anand garu came on board, the project took off,” he adds.

Shetty tells us that the casting for the other roles is still in progress, and reveals that the film contains multiple main characters. “We are looking for a fresh face for the female lead, while the other key roles will feature known actors.”

As for the technical crew, the editor of Pushpa, Karthika Srinivas, is on board, as is music director Chaitan Bharadwaj, who will be composing five to six songs for the film, says Shetty. “The cinematographer is yet to be finalised,” he adds.

The director says the team plans to go on floors with Gam Gam Ganesha towards the end of April. About 35% of the film will be shot in Hyderabad, while the rest will be filmed in the backdrop of a village in Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh.
