‘Game Of Thrones’ Creators David Benioff, DB Weiss To Write New Star Wars Film Series

David Benioff and DB Weiss, the creators of hit HBO series Game of Thrones, have reportedly been roped in to write a series of Star Wars films. Releasing a joint statement, the duo said that they would start working on the series soon after they finish with Game of Thrones, which is slated to release next year.

“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since. We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete,” read their statement, with no dates or details given.

This is separate from the Star Wars spin-off series that Rian Johnson is currently working on.

Meanwhile, there has been no comment from them on Confederate, an HBO drama series they had announced last year which would focus on an alternate history that imagines that the American Civil war ended in a draw and slavery remained legal.
