Dileep, one of the main accused in the abduction and assault of an actress, was expelled from the association soon after his arrest in July.

The report in The News Minute quotes Ganesh Kumar as saying, “They (Prithviraj) have vendetta against Dileep. So, maybe Mammootty took such a decision because of pressure from Prithviraj and to satisfy the media. Technically, one or two persons like the President or Secretary cannot expel an AMMA member. He was not expelled legally.”

The committee can only suspend Dileep but can’t expel him. There is a disciplinary committee and they will have to investigate the issue. Then it has to be analysed by another three member committee. Only then can a person can be expelled. In Dileep’s case, nothing like that happened, he said.

Dileep was granted bail by the Kerala High Court yesterday. This was his fifth plea for bail, and the third before the high court.

The 49-year-old actor was arrested on July 10 as part of the conspiracy behind the abduction of the actress in February this year. He was lodged at the Aluva sub-jail for the past 85 days.
