Gaurav Solanki Teams Up With Ali Abbas Zafar For A Web-Series

In an interview to Indian Express, Solanki said that the series is set in Delhi and centers on the power corridors of Indian politics, with three to four parallel story lines and an ensemble cast. “There is also a story about an institute, which is on the lines of JNU. Two stories clash and so do their protagonists. One is a student activist and the other is a huge political leader,” he said.

About working with Ali Abbas Zafar, the director of the recent Salman Khan-starrer Bharath, he said Ali had a one-pager, which he discussed with Amazon before Solanki came on board and made it a full-fledged series. “For a series, that was just a seed. It had only four main characters and I brought in more. It will be interesting to see how people react to it. Because it is the kind of story I want to tell. It’s going to be a big show, budget wise. Also, we are looking at some big names for the cast,” he said.

The film, which released in June, starred Ayushman as a police officer, along with Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishram and Manoj Pahwa in important roles. Gaurav’s second project after Article 15 is Tandav.

The series marks the digital debut of director Ali Abbas Zafar, who will soon also venture into production with a film starring Ishan Khatter and Ananya Pandey in the lead, and directed by his assistants. The name of the director and cast details are yet to be announced. The film is set in Mumbai and will go on floors by this year end.
