Gautham Menon Approached For Premam Remake

Neram director Alphonse Puthiran’s recently released Malayalam film Premam has taken over Mollywood by storm. Now, a reliable source confirms that KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green has ‘almost’ bagged the Tamil rights of the movie. Also, several reports say that director Gautham Menon has been approached to direct Premam’s Tamil version.

However, the buzz is that the director might not take up the movie as it bears a close resemblance to his film Vaaranam Aayiram. Reportedly, actors Suriya and Dhanush are the strong contenders to reprise Nivin Pauly’s role in the Tamil version.

Recently, Premam was caught in a murky controversy after a censor copy of the film made it to Internet. The producer of the film, Anwar Rasheed, openly protested against the state film associations’ inability to act against piracy.

Starring Nivin Pauly, Anupama Parameswaran, Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva fame Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian, Premam is a romantic comedy drama. Made in a budget of Rs 4 crores, the movie churned out Rs 38 crores at the end of 50 days and is still going strong at the box office.
