Karan Johar’s Next Production Is A Sex Comedy

Karan Johar’s next production has temporarily been titled Get A Room, reports Deccan Chronicle. Unlike the ‘family dramas’ he is often associated with, the film will be a sex comedy directed by Sonam Nair, who had earlier directed Gippi (2013), a coming-of-age story of a teenage girl.

While the film is a love story, Johar had initially been flabbergasted after reading the script. “When Karan first heard the script, he was like, ‘what am I supposed to do with this?’ But then, he realised that it is a modern take on relationships. He is cool and experimental like that. It is a small film with a humble budget and will have Dharma’s values at the core — it’s a love story. I am hoping for it to go on floors this year,” Nair told DC. “It’s a film where two people are talking about sex, but there are no sexual innuendos,” she added.

The film’s cast is yet to be revealed, with Nair reportedly opting for new faces. Nair’s first film Gippi had new faces too, with teenager Riya Vij playing the lead role. The film had an average run at the box office, despite a few positive reviews.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar’s production company, Dharma’s upcoming film is Badrinath Ki Dulhania starring Alia  Bhatt and Varun Bhatt; it is slated to release on March 11. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the romantic-comedy is a sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014).
