Ghosted: Ana De Armas Replaces Scarlett Johansson in Apple Studios’ Upcoming Romantic Action-Adventure Film

English film actor Ana De Armas has replaced Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming romantic comedy film Ghosted. The movie will now see De Armas sharing screen space with actor Chris Evans. It will be directed by Dexter Fletcher who has helmed films like Rocketman (2019).

According to a report by Deadline, Johansson exited the film due to scheduling conflicts. The film was hoping to begin production in February which posed as an issue for the Marriage Story actress.

Evans and Johansson previously co-starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as superhero characters Captain America and Black Widow.

Ghosted is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick whose works include Deadpool and Zombieland. It is based on an original idea that the writers came up with and they sold it to Skydance Media.

An Apple original film, Ghosted is touted as a high concept romantic action-adventure film. Chris Evans has been roped in to co-produce the movie along with Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Jules Daly. De Armas will serve as the film’s executive producer.

The upcoming film marks Evans and De Armas’ third collaboration after the 2019 film Knives Out and Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ghosted is a part of Apple’s large list of upcoming films. Other films include Tom HanksFinch, Swan Song written and directed by Mahershala Ali, and The Tragedy of Macbeth starring Frances McDormand and Denzel Washington.

Apart from Ghosted, Ana De Armas will also appear in Blonde, Netflix’s upcoming biographical drama on Marilyn Monroe. It is scheduled to release sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans will be seen in Don’t Look Up and he will also voice Buzz Lightyear in Pixar Studio’s Toy Story spin-off Lightyear. The movie will be directed by Angus MacLane and it serves as the origin story of the famous Toy Story character.
