Govinda Speaks On ‘Bhayankar’ Bollywood Camps and Salman Khan

Govinda is not part of cliques in Bollywood.

Bollywood actor Govinda had a ragingly successful career during the 90’s, it is now disheartening to see a versatile actor like him doing much fewer movies compared to his contemporaries. The 52-year-old actor terms this as ‘samay accha nahi hai’ (my time is not right). He does not shy away from terming the Bollywood camps as ‘bhayankar’ and admits to not being a part of it.

In an interview with the Indian Express on his birthday, the actor added how he never is a part of talk shows.

“If you see, Karan Johar never called me for any of his interviews. He has called comedians, singers, actors, newcomers, and everyone else. A time comes when people think if we have to remove an actor from the hero category, you need to start a comedy awards show. And you start a Karan Johar show in which Govinda should never be seen. Throw parties in which Govinda should never be seen.”

He was articulate when it came to award shows, and the influence cliques have on them. “A person belonging to one camp is giving the award, person belonging to another camp is receiving it, a third one is giving a speech while the fourth one from the same camp is sitting in the audience and clapping. So camps and classes have become important,” the actor-turned-politician remarked.

Govinda commented on his camaraderie with Salman Khan, and spoke about how they may never be seen together in the same frame again. The two were last seen together in 2007, in the movie Partner. “Salman has always stood by me. And when someone lends me support, I am always with him. Today however I don’t have any expectations from Salman. Because he has been told so much about me that there will not be a chance of us acting again together,” Govinda said.

The actor will be seen next in Aa Gaya Hero where he play a cop. He added how doing cameos could streamline an actor’s chances of being a hero again.
