As reported earlier, actor-music director G.V. Prakash Kumar has ventured into Hollywood for writer-director ‬‪Ricky Burchell’s Trap City starring Tropic Thunder, Person Jackson, and Big Momma House fame Brandon T Jackson. The film is currently in the post-production phase and is all set for release this summer. It is being bankrolled by three production houses namely, Kyyba Films, Nasik Rav Media and Kingdom Over Everything – KOE.

To add on, Tamil actor Nepoleon who is known for films like Yejaman, Thalaivasal, and Kizhakku Cheemayile is also a part of the film apart from Dead Presidents and Ray fame Clifton Powell, Notorious fame Dennis LA White, The Starving Games fame Juhahn Jones, The Body Sculptor fame Bethany Sharp and All Eyez On Me fame Erica Pinkett. It is also noteworthy that Hollywood Producer Tel Ganesan of Kyyba Films has been instrumental in taking G.V. overseas for Trap City just like he earlier did for actor Nepolean for films like Devil’s Night: Dawn of the Nain Rouge directed by Sam Logan Khalegi and Christmas Coupon directed by Daniel Knudsen.

The movie is reportedly about a rapper striving to make it big whilst working for a drug lord. A song that he records goes viral right before he gets arrested for a crime. How he tackles all the hurdles and achieves his goal forms the rest of the story. It has been shot entirely at Nashville, Tennessee.

GV plays a surgeon in the film while Nepolean essays the character of Naveen. Brandon plays DeShawn, Clifton plays Goose, Dennis plays Jacoby, Juhahn plays Trey, Erica plays Bella, and Bethany plays Candence Finestein.

Speaking of how GV was roped in, Producer Tel Ganesan said, “We got the idea to make this film in 2019. I met Prakash for a soundtrack that I required and that was when I invited him to come to Hollywood. Now that the Hollywood industry has accepted him as an actor, I think they will also come here for his music next. Through this film, he would be reaching out to an audience base bigger than the usual base. The English market comprises around 170 countries. So, the reach will be phenomenal”. He also adds that actor Napoleon plays Brandon’s bodyguard in the film.

GV Prakash said that he thoroughly enjoyed working on the project.”I am glad to foray into the industry with this film. I shot for around three days in Nashville. My co-star Brandon is basically a very nice person and I enjoyed working with this entire unit. In fact, we are in touch even after the film is over,” he said.

Talking about how the Hollywood industry is different from our industry, he said, “Both are different industries and therefore, one cannot compare. Both have their strengths. The primary difference I found was that they use live sound and therefore, no prompting is possible when one delivers lines. They also narrate the entire script to you beforehand making it easy to understand the essence of the story. And then we’ve got rehearsals which make us more confident.”

When asked if he got to feature with Napoleon, GV Prakash said, “We did not have scenes together but we did catch up with each other. Napoleon sir is a very nice person. I visited his home there in Nashville. It was a very pleasant experience.”

The actor-composer also added that he wouldn’t be composing for the film. “I have sung two songs for the film. It is a musical and also a thriller film,” said GV.

Meanwhile, G.V. Prakash Kumar who was last seen in director MM Chandramouli’s 100% Kadhal will next be seen in Sathish Selvakumar’s Bachelor, an untitled film opposite Varsha Bollamma, Vasanthabalan‘s Jail, Kamal Prakash’s Kadhalika Yaarumillai, Ravi Arasu‘s Ayngaran, Ezhil‘s Aayiram Jenmangal, Shanmugam Muthusamy‘s Adangathey, and in an untitled remake of a Malayalam film.
