In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Roshan said he was aware of talks of a sequel, but he would have to talk to Zoya Akhtar. He said, “[N]ot many film makers can make such movies. So I have to call Zoya once more, and say, ‘ Please write something’ and if you feel I am good enough please cast me in your film. I guess I will have to beg her. But I think [the sequel] will happen may be three or four years from now.”

The actor also said that his role in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was more challenging than even than his role in Kaabil, for which he had worked very hard. He said, “For me, ZNMD was harder than any other films that I’ve done. First, it’s not an author-backed role, and the entire film is in a lighter vein. So, there is no drama or other such crutches. It’s like a soft breeze with which you just have to align yourself and let things flow.

I am glad that I got to experience that, because it’s another world of cinema that I love so much. I am also looking forward to doing more films similar to ZNMD, especially with someone like Zoya.”

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starred Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, and Katrina Kaif. All the stars in the lead cast have packed calendars ahead of them. With director Zoya Akhtar focusing on Gully Boys, a film based on the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy, the sequel could take a long time to materialise.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is gearing up for the release of Kaabil.
