If Vijay Antony Signed A Film With Two Heroes, It Has To Be Good: Director Sasi At ‘Kolaigaran’ Press Meet

Arjun, Vijay Antony At The 'Kolaigaran' Press Meet

Director Sasi recently said that actor-composer Vijay Antony refused to do one of his films because it had two heroes. So if he signed up for Kolaigaran after knowing that Arjun Sarja also stars in the lead, then the film had to be special, he said.

Directed by Anderw Louis of Leelai fame, Kolaigaran is set to release soon.

Vijay Antony and Sasi’s 2016 film Pichaikaran was a big success and was remade in Odia, Marathi and Kannada. Sasi also introduced Vijay Antony as the music director of Dishyum in 2006. Speaking at the press meet of Kolaigaran, Sasi said, “After Pichairakan, many producers wanted us to come together. I approached him with a story but before he could listen he said he won’t be able to say no if it’s good, and that he didn’t want to act in a film with two heroes. When I saw the trailer of Kolaigaran and found out that Arjun Sarja was the second hero and Dhananjayan was producing the film, I knew it had to be interesting.”

The director also added that he was happy that Simon, who he introduced with Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu in 2015, was the music director for the film. Vijay Antony, Ashima Narwal, the female lead, Andrew Louis, Dhananjayan and others spoke about the upcoming crime thriller. They were also all praise of actor Arjun Sarja, “Arjun sir’s work in Kolaigaran showed me how to perform. His performance in Kolaigaran is of international standards,” said Vijay Antony.

Kolaigaran is Vijay Antony’s 10th film.  The director said in an interview that the story connects the lives of the characters played by Vijay Antony, Arjun and Ashima. The trailer suggests that Vijay Antony is on a hunt to kill people who have wronged him, and Arjun Sarja plays the police officer.

The film went on floors in June last year, and has been entirely shot in Chennai. Arjun Sarja signed on even before beginning work on Irumbu Thirai, the 2018 Vishal-starrer in which he played antagonist. Later in 2018, he was accused by actor Sruthi Hariharan of touching her inappropriately during the shooting of the film Nibunan, where he played a cop. She filed a case against him, and Arjun, in turn, slapped a defamation suit on her.
