Actor Allu Sirish will host the Telugu segment of the inaugural edition of the IIFA Utsavam, which will be held in Hyderabad from December 4 to December 6. Sirish, who will be hosting for the first time in his career, says he’s excited but admits it would also be a challenge. “Unlike Bollywood, awards functions in the South have mostly been formal, including the jokes. People here are not used to the below-the-belt the humour, so it becomes very challenging to host. One has to be extremely careful yet know how to be funny,” Sirish told Silverscreen.in. The actor is currently shooting a film with director Parasuram and actress Lavanya Tripathi.
After 16 years of introducing Indian cinema to the world, the IIFA decided to launch IIFA Utsavam, to celebrate films from the four South Indian Film industries and give them a bigger global platform. Unlike the usual IIFA events, which are hosted in different parts of the world, IIFA Utsavam will be held in India.
