Vijay finally opened up about the controversy surrounding Kaththi at the film’s audio launch. Just hours before the event, a group of student protesters were apprehended by the police, and that seemed to sit heavily with the team.
Addressing the issue, the actor said, “I am not a saint. At the same time, I have never betrayed anybody. Kaththi will not hurt anyone. I urge you not to believe these rumours.” And in his trademark style, Vijay added, “unmaikku vilakkam kudutha thelivaagum; vadandhikku vilakkam kudutha unmai aayidum!”
This is the first time that the actor has come forward to discuss the issue – many people have alleged that the film’s producer, Subhaskaran is a close associate of Mahinda Rajapakse and that the movie will injure the sentiments of the Tamil community.
While a press meet was held earlier this week to address the issue, it doesn’t seem to have made a difference.
