Nayanthara will play an investigative officer in Ajay Gnanamuthu’s Imaikkaa Nodigal. The actress will investigate the murders of six affluent people in the city.
“She will be seen as Atharvaa’s sister in the film. Initially, I was apprehensive whether she would say yes to my script. When I narrated it, she was very impressed and gave her nod immediately,” the director told DC.
Nayanthara was also given an image makeover so that she looks more like a CBI officer. “We changed her hair style and gave her a slick look, as she plays a CBI officer from Bengaluru. There are no action scenes for her. She has given a really intense performance.”
Atharvaa will be seen as a doctor from Chennai while actor Raashi Khanna plays his love interest.
Ajay also revealed that he’d approached director Gautham Vasudev Menon to play the villain. “Initially, director Gautham Vasudev Menon was supposed to do the villain’s role. Due to his other commitments, he could not allocate dates for us. Then we thought of Anurag, who played the baddie in AR Murugadoss’ Akira. Since we felt that he was apt for the story, we roped him in.”
Imaikkaa Nodigal, produced by Cameo Films, is slated to release in August this year.
