Produced by Sujan Kumar under the Navathej Films banner, Badusha NM will be serving as the line producer for this project. The film’s screenplay is written by Biju R Pillai.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, director Sharafudheen said that Irumukham will be a psychological investigative thriller film. “I have been wanting to do a thriller film as there is a good reception for this genre in recent times.”

“While working as an assistant director on an upcoming film titled Prakashan Parakkatte, I met Biju R Pillai. We discussed the possibility of making a thriller film with a unique subject. We then got an idea which he developed into a full-fledged story around two months ago. We also did a bit of research to develop the psychological elements in the story,” he added.

“Joju George was our first option for the lead role. After completing the script, we narrated the story to him. He liked the idea and agreed to be a part of this project,” the director said, adding that the producer was already on board during the film’s scripting stage.

Apart from Joju George, the pivotal roles in Irumukham will be played by well-known actors and the film will also feature some newcomers, who will be selected through auditions, Sharafudheen added. An official announcement regarding the cast will be made later.

The director noted that the film is currently in the pre-production stage and said the team is planning to begin filming in November. “We are planning to shoot in parts of Calicut and Wayanad districts in a single schedule and hope to wrap up in December.”

Sharafudheen further said that the story of Irumukham is not rooted in any particular culture or territory. “The film’s treatment will make the story relatable to all types of audiences beyond language and cultural barriers,” he added.

Meanwhile, Joju George, who was recently seen in films like Malik, Jagame Thandiram, and Nayattu, has a slew of projects in the pipeline, including Thuramukham, Peace, Oru Thathvika Avalokanam, Pada, and Madhuram.
