‘Irupathiyonnaam Noottandu’ Trailer: Pranav Mohanlal On A Run From Villains Yet Again

The protagonist Appu’s transformation from “I am not up for rowdy-ism” to “This will be my first ‘quotation’ work,” pretty much sums up the plot of Irupathiyonnaam Noottandu. In his second outing as an actor, Pranav Mohanlal plays Appu – another character on the run from villains.

The movie derives its title from the 1987 crime thriller Irupathaam Noottandu, meaning 20th century. Born out of the hit collaboration of the writer-director duo K. Madhu and S.N. Swamy – who have made the Sethuramayyar series, Adikuruppu and Oru Abhibhashakante Case Diary, Irupathaam Noottaandu featured Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles, and dealt with the theme of smuggling.

As Pranav Mohanlal takes over the mantle from his father, Irupathiyonnaam Noottandu (21st century), a story set in Goa, has barely any semblance with the original. As a character trying to steer clear from the image of his smuggler father, Pranav Mohanlal reprises the role of a boy on the run. Aadhi, his debut movie, saw him essay a similar role. Irupathiyonnam Noottandu comes with the tagline ‘Not a don story.’

Irupathiyonnam Noottandu is the second project for both the actor and the director. The movie is directed by Arun Gopy who has previously worked on Dileep’s Ramaleela. Tomichan Mulakuppadam, who produced the original under his banner Mulakuppadam Films, is the producer for this project too.
