Ishari Ganesh To Contest Opposite Vishal In Nadigar Sangam Elections?

Actor-producer Ishari K Ganesh is likely to contest opposite Vishal Krishna and team in the South Indian Artists Association or Nadigar Sangam elections scheduled for June 23.

Incidentally, he has always supported the present office bearers – president Nasser, vice president Ponvannan, treasurer Karthi, and Vishal – and recently even presented them with Rs 1 crore for the construction of the Nadigar Sangam building which is underway.

Ishari Ganesh has acted in films such as 2.0 and Thulluvadho Ilamai, and is a big film producer and owner of Vels Educational Trust. In 2015, when Nasser won the elections, he even announced 100 free seats for the family members of the Sangam in his institutions.

While the post he is likely to contest for is unknown, the news that he may contest opposite Vishal’s team comes a day after actor Saravanan said that no one should stand opposite Vishal because it will disrupt the work on the Sangam building.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Saravanan said that the current office bearers are doing good work for the council, and credited Vishal for the Sangam building, saying no one will be able to recreate similar work. “To those who want to stand opposite Vishal, my request is, don’t contest this time. Let the work on the building proceed without hindrance,” he said.

Actor Udhaya, who had campaigned for Vishal last time, earlier announced that he will be contesting opposite Vishal for the post of general secretary because he is not satisfied with Vishal’s performance. Saravanan said, “Udhaya is a good friend, and my request to him too is to not contest this time.”

He also said that the people who have seen the work on the building so far in T Nagar will agree that it will benefit the union.

The building, which is costing the Sangam Rs 35 crore, was supposed to be inaugurated in March 2019. But the construction faced many hurdles and legal roadblocks, leading to a delay. This was also the reason for the current office bearers to extend their term by almost a year.

Speculations about the actors contesting opposite Vishal have been doing the rounds for a month, with names such as STR and his father T Rajendar, Radhika Sarathkumar, with Sarathkumar and Radha Ravi’s backing, and others being reported.

The official contestant list is yet to be out, and as of now only actor Udhaya has said that he will contest. The elections for the Nadigar Sangam will be held at MGR Janaki College in Chennai from 7am to 5pm on June 23.
