Speaking to the press Salman Khan said that he shared a deep connection with Chennai from partying to watching Tamil films to tasting the food, even before he turned actor.”The first time, I came to Madras was to shoot an advertisement commercial at Fishermen’s Cove. Later, I was here to shoot a Tamil movie with actress Revathi titled Phir Milenge. Not to forget, the climax of Wanted was also shot in Chennai for nearly a month,” said the actor.

He added that he was a huge fan of actor Rajinikanth. He reportedly walked into the audio launch of 2.0 held at YRF Studios in Mumbai just to catch a glimpse of the actor. “Rajini sir was shocked and surprised to see me there. Yes, I was an uninvited guest there and I just wanted to see him,” said the actor.

Speaking about the film, the actor said that the dubbing is so “Chennai”. He even tried enunciating the words ‘Jallikattuku Kaalai Ready’ on stage and mentioned that it was just like Hindi. “It will be a prequel to the first part, where you’ll get to see the actual story behind the birth of ‘Chulbul Pandey’ (Salman’s character in the film). There are a lot of emotional sequences and we are missing Vinod Khanna sir a lot. We’ve made his brother perform my father’s role in this film.”

Distributor Kotapadi J Rajesh said that Dabangg 3 would resemble a Tamil film which will see Salman Khan speaking actor-politician MGR’s famous punch dialogues. “It will comprise all the necessary commercial elements and will be the first-ever Hindi movie to grab maximum screens in Tamil Nadu,” said the distributor.

Debutante Saiee Manjrekar said, “I am looking forward to a good response from everyone and am confident Dabangg 3 will be definitely liked by all,” said the actress who plays Khushi in the film. She also said that she would be willing to take up more Tamil films if they come her way. To this, Salman Khan hinted that the actress has already been receiving offers from the industry but is yet to make a decision.

Director Prabhu Deva said that the multilingual script has been penned in such a way as to suit the regional audiences. He also said that he prays to God almost every day for the film to turn out well. “The decision about getting the film released in four languages was made even before the commencement of shooting,” said the director.

Actor Kichcha Sudeep quipped that he was glad to be directed by Prabhu Deva instead of being choreographed. The actor also said that only the character ‘Chulbul Pandey’ and the title ‘Dabangg‘ remain constant in all three installments. He did absolutely no homework other than being himself to essay his role in the film. He also added that the climax was shot in two schedules owing to the time required to build Salman’s physique to fit the role. “To be honest, you can’t beat him when it comes to fitness as he works out like a beast when he is at the gym,” said the actor.

The event wrapped up with the actors and director performing the signature ‘belt step’ from the ‘Munna Badnaam Hua’ song which features in the film.

Dabangg 3 is being bankrolled by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films, Nikhil Dwivedi under Saffron Broadcast & Media Limited and Arbaaz Khan under Arbaaz Khan Productions. It also features Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan and Pramod Khanna in significant roles. Mahesh Limaye is the cinematographer, Sajid Wajid on the music, Ritesh Soni is the editor and Anl Arasu is directing the stunts.

The film will hit screens on 20 December for Christmas this year.
