Jai Makes His Malayalam Debut In Mammootty’s ‘Madhura Raja’

Actor Jai in Vadacurry Movie Stills

The Tamil actor Jai is making his foray into Malayalam film industry with Mammootty’s Madhura Raja, directed by Vyshakh. He has begun shoot for his part in the movie, and reportedly has numerous sequences with Mammootty.

The makers recently released a first look poster featuring Mammootty.

Madhura Raja is a spin-off of the Mammootty-Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja. Prithviraj makes a cameo appearance in the Malayalam film. Sunny Leone will be starring in an item song.

Pokkiri Raja, written by Udayakrishna and Siby K Thomas, and directed by Vyshakh, released in 2010 to become a huge success. In Madhura Raja, Mammootty reprises his role of Raja from the original. Pokkiri Raja featured Prithviraj as Mammootty’s brother, and Shriya Saran as Prithviraj’s girlfriend.

Madhura Raja will not be carrying forward the story of Pokkiri Raja, and will be a standalone film. The shoot commenced in August 2018, and is said to be the costliest film in Mammotty’s career so far.

Madhura Raja marks the coming together of director Vyshakh, scriptwriter Udayakrishna and stunt master Peter Hein. The trio have previously worked on Mohanlal’s Pulimrugan, which was one of the highest grossing Malayalam films.

Anushree, Mahima Nambiar and Shamna Kasim will be part of the cast. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is also part of the movie. It is slated to release on April 14, during the time of Vishu.

Meanwhile, Jai has three films gearing up for release this year. His film Party is by Venkat Prabhu, the director of Goa. It features an ensemble cast with Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Regina Cassandra, Nassar, Sampath, Shiva, Shaam and Ramya Krishnan.

He other films are Neeya 2 and Karuppar Nagaram.
