The Jallikattu protests have taken a turn for the worse. Protestors, who were asked to evacuate Marina Beach earlier today, have resorted to pelting stones at Police officers in retaliation. Vehicles parked outside Ice House Police Station, in Chennai, were set on fire. Major roads in Chennai have also been blocked by students, reports say.
In Alanganallur, protestors who had congregated infront of ‘Vaadi Vaasal’ were lathi-charged.

The Marina protest against the Jallikattu ban has largely been a silent and peaceful one till now. Celebrities have requested the students to not indulge in violence; and to conduct themselves in the same peaceful, dignified way they have done thus far.
