While it is still unclear as to what role Momoa will be seen playing, the THR report suggests that he is speculated to essay one of the antagonists in the upcoming film.
Justin Lin, who directed F9, and the third up to the sixth installments, will helm the final film that will release in two parts.
The Fast and Furious franchise began with the 2001 film The Fast and the Furious. There are 10 films in the franchise, so far. This includes the spin-off film Hobbs & Shaw, released in 2019.
The last film to release was F9: The Fast Saga, which hit screens amid the COVID-19 pandemic, in mid-2021. It became the first Hollywood film to collect over $500 million, while the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak, and ended with $726 million, worldwide.
The film featured principal cast members, including, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, along with Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron.
While the aforementioned actors are expected to be back with Theron, it is still unclear as to who else will return to the franchise.
Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, had publicly expressed his desire to have Johnson back as Luke Hobbs in the tenth instalment. In an Instagram post, from November 2021, Diesel wrote “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
Speaking to CNN in December 2021, Johnson said that there was no chance of his return to the franchise. “Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding,” said the Red Notice actor.
Fast 10 is currently scheduled for a May, 2023 release date.
