Jigarthanda Postponed Yet Again

Jigarthanda, which was scheduled to release last Friday has been postponed yet again. The movie has been censored with a U/A certificate, and the movie’s producer Kathiresan is reportedly ready to allow 16 cuts to the movie to obtain a U certificate.  A U certificate makes it easier for producers to obtain entertainment tax exemptions for movies.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the director of the movie, Karthik Subbaraj is reluctant to permit any cuts to his film, especially since he had informed his producer earlier on that his movie would involve scenes of a violent nature and that he was not ready to do anything that would damage the storyline. When reached for comment, Karthik Subbaraj would not confirm the reasons behind the delay. He however denied allegations that the movie was an unattributed copy of a Korean film.

The spokesperson for the movie, Nikil Murugan, confirmed to Silverscreen that a new release date has not been set yet. The movie stars Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Bobby Simha, Karunakaran and actor-director Pratap Pothen. Santhosh Narayanan composes the music.
