Jimmy Sheirgill Dragged To Court Over Financial Dispute With Production Company

Jimmy Sheirgill has been accused by a production house for cheating them of Rs 93 lakhs. According to Mid-Day, the actor took the money after signing a film, but never showed up on the sets.

New Leaf Media Ventures PVT LTD’s Ashish Chawla has claimed that in June 2012, Jimmy Sheirgill signed to be a part of the film Punjabi Number 1 and also took a signing amount of Rs. 21 lakhs. As per the contract, Jimmy’s remuneration was set at Rs 1 crore and the schedule to be completed in a year’s time.

However, Chawla claimed that the actor failed to show up on the sets multiple times. After two years of going back and forth, Chawla approached Jimmy and asked him to return the signing amount. The issue saw no progress, so Chawla then moved the issue to the court. However, the actor failed to show up for the court hearing as well, the report added.

Jimmy, however, denied the charges and told Mid-Day: “Allegation made against me are wrong. The story of that said film is [great], I wanted to work on it. [But] there is a financial problem with company. When they demanded money from me, I agreed to return the first amount [I was given]. But, they are demanding more [money] without explaining where they spent it on.”

He also claimed that his advocate had been attending the hearing regularly on his behalf.
