The year 2018 has started out as a year where most of the big films are unable to release their films on the said date.

Akshay Kumar’s PadMan was supposed to release with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat. However, owing to the fact that Padmaavat was caught in a political warfare, Akshay Kumar complied and backed out of the clash. PadMan, a biographical account of Arunachalam Murugathanam, will release on February 9. This has however, had a domino effect on the domestic box-office as several other filmmakers are now scramming to find new dates and find more screens for their films.

Veere Di Wedding which had planned for a February-March release was pushed to June, Rani Mukerji’s Hichki which was supposed to release in the first week of March will now be releasing on March 23.

Now, according to an official announcement, John Abraham has pushed the release of his war drama Parmanu so that it doesn’t clash with Anushka Sharma’s Pari. While, both the films belong to different genres, a box-office clash would have certainly affected the collections of each film.

John Abraham, who will be seen on the big screen after a span of two years, clearly doesn’t want to take any chances. The film will now hit the screen on March 2, exactly a month later than its previous date. The film also stars Diana Penty and will unravel the mystery surrounding India Army’s nuclear test bomb explosions in Pokhran in 1998.

The fact to be noted here is that both the films are backed by the same production house, KriArj Entertainment. According to a report in DNA, the makers knew that Anushka being a bigger star than John would set the cash registers ringing at the box-office. Sources have also stated that since John’s last outing Force 2 and other films didn’t have a big opening, the production house had to take a call to change the release date. However, Parmanu does have a powerful story and the makers wanted to make sure that it gets its fair share of success and a well-deserving solo release.

Meanwhile, Anushka’s psychological horror Pari is set to scare the audiences on the Holi weekend. The recently released trailer and poster of the film look intriguing and scary. It has been quite long since a psychological horror film released in Bollywood.
