A far cry from what Salman Khan looked like in Judwaa (1997), 20 years later, Raja and Prem return with Varun Dhawan playing the twins this time. Judwaa 2‘s trailer has Varun playing Raja and Prem – twins who were separated by birth and bumps into each other much later.
The trailer shows Prem, the goody-two-shoes twin, explains to a doctor about how he’s doesn’t have much control over his body. Sometimes kissing a woman, sometimes hitting a policeman – Prem is confused why these weird things happen to him.
We are then introduced to Raja, the badmaash twin who is brash, uncouth, and resembles just about any tapori on the road. They meet and together, they share their adventures including falling in love (with Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu), and destroying the smuggling nexus to save their family.
Apart from Varun, the film also stars Anupam Kher, and Rajpal Yadav. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house, the film is scheduled for a September 29 release.
The original action-comedy Judwaa, released in 1997, had Karisma Kapoor and Rambha playing the female leads. The film and its songs went on to be a massive hit, grossing approximately Rs 233.9 million.
While the sequel’s music is composed by Badshah and Tanishk Bagchi, the original film’s music was composed by Anu Malik who made the songs Oonchi Hai Building and East Aur West India Is The Best popular.
