Jyothika Announces New Film With Dream Warrior Pictures

Jyothika’s next film will be helmed by a debutant director. Dream Warrior Pictures has signed on to bankroll this project, to be directed by S Raj. An announcement was made earlier today by the production house, and the film’s title will be unveiled through a first look poster later this year.

A spokesperson for the production house said:

“Raj has come up with a unique story that fits in with what Jyothika tries to tell through her work. We are delighted to partner with a newcomer in the field. Dream Warrior Pictures stands behind solid content and innovative outlook towards capturing society as it truly is. We believe that Raj truly is a person that can make a film in line with our ideology.”

Filming begins October this year. A source close to the production team said that casting was on for major roles in the project. The story is female centric, in keeping with Jyothika’s choices thus far.

Dream Warrior Pictures has already worked with Suriya in the upcoming NGK, directed by Selvaraghavan.

At present, Jyothika has Kaatrin Mozhi, a remake of the Hindi film Tumhari Sulu. The actor will play Vidya Balan’s role from the original. The film, directed by Radha Mohan and with a cast that includes Vidharth, Lakshmi Manchu among others, is slated to release later this year.

Jyothika took a break from filming post her marriage to actor Suriya. She made her comeback with 36 Vayadhinile, a remake of How Old Are You? and followed this up with roles in Naachiyaar, Magalir Mattum –  films revolving around strong female protagonists, with her in the lead. Next, the actress will be seen in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in which she plays Chithra; she is cast opposite Aravind Swamy who plays Varadhan in the film.
