Kadhal Paithiyam has two newcomers in the lead. Kannada actress Jeevika makes her Tamil debut with this movie while Adarsh, last seen in a Hindi movie, is all set to play the male lead. Jeevika has a meaty role in this flick and confides that she’s been given ample scope for performance. The movie takes on new-gen romance and will “realistically portray the youth of today and their relationships”. According to director Ma Chandru, the film looks at how “ego-issues” sabotage a relationship. “Generally, in any love story, the parents pose a problem. In some cases, it might even be the friends that break them up. The couple in this movie has no issues of that sort. Their relationship is accepted by everyone, but they break up anyway. Kadhal Paithiyam is going to be a path breaking movie and will hopefully give the audience a better understanding of love and relationships in the age of social media.”
