Kamal Haasan has apologised for supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive. The actor, in an article he wrote for Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, said:
“I owe the people an apology for supporting the plan in a hurry.”
The actor had tweeted his support for Modi’s initiative last year. Following this, the actor was roundly criticised on social media as well as his close circle of family and friends, he said.

Kamal said that the intention behind the move was noble, but that it was not practical.
“If the Prime Minister accepts his mistake without being adamant, one more salaam is waiting for him from me. The sign of a good leader is when they can rectify their mistakes and more importantly, accept that they made them. Gandhi was able to do it, today also it is possible,” the actor said.
