A report in TOI states a source close to the film unit, “The project is definitely not shelved. It’s taking time to get back on floors because Kamal sir is not fully healed, and has a limp. It has been postponed indefinitely for now as it can’t be said certainly when it will resume.”

Plans are on to film some portions abroad, and the team is busy organising visas for the cast and crew, which could easily take six to eight weeks.

“Moreover, the rest of the Indian cast is busy with their other commitments. It’s not going to be easy to get dates from them,” the source added.

The project has been hit with delays since its beginning. First, the film’s original director, TK Rajeev Kumar, fell sick on the movie’s US schedule, and had to be replaced by Kamal. Following this, Kamal slipped and fell at his Alwarpet, Chennai office and suffered a compound fracture. He was advised bed rest and intensive physiotherapy for six months, which inordinately delayed Sabash Naidu.

Sabash Naidu, is a spin-off of the popular character, Balram Naidu from the 2010 movie Dasavatharam. The movie has actors Shruti Hassan, Ramya Krishnan, Brahmanandam and Saurabh Shukla in major roles. The 62-year-old actor will be directing the project while Ilayaraja will compose the music.

The movie is produced under the Raaj Kamal Films banner and is being simultaneously shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
