Kamal Haasan Celebrates Children’s Day With Disabled Children

Kamal Haasan At The Celebrations of 'Children's Day' In Chennai

“My association with this school began almost 37 years ago,” said Kamal Haasan at the Little Flower Convent for Deaf and Dumb. The actor was at the school to celebrate Children’s Day with children with disabilities.

Reminiscing about his Rajaparvai days, Kamal said, “When Ilaiyaraja and I came here for the first time, as part of the movie, the kids had a surprise planned for us. They hid in a classroom and came out to surprise us.”

The actor confessed to having got emotional after this. “I still can’t forget the experience,” he said, adding that he considered the sisters who ran the institution as surrogate mothers.

Talking about the children who presented a dance performance, he said, “I was a dance assistant myself. I know how hard it is for a person, even without a disability, to match steps to the rhythm. Despite their special conditions, they still managed to do that. I’d like to congratulate the kids, and also the teachers who trained them.”

The actor’s spokesperson said that he was at the event merely as part of their Children’s Day celebration.

Haasan’s only release this year was Vishwaroopam 2 – the sequel to his 2013 movie. Written and directed by him, the sequel didn’t fare well at the box office. However, the actor has Sabaash Naidu in the making. A spin-off of his 2008 movie Dashaavataram, Sabaash Naidu is centred on Balram Naidu – a character he played in Dashaavataram.

Another movie that he will soon start shooting for is Indian 2. Directed by S.Shankar, the production work for the film began recently. The official shoot for the movie is set to begin on December 3 after the director has completed his pre-release work of the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0. The first look of Indian 2 was released recently.
