The micro-blogging site, Twitter, got a little shinier on January 26, thanks to actor Kamal Haasan who joined the social networking platform on the Republic Day. The actor’s first tweet was his own rendition of the national anthem. The four-time national award winning actor-director was welcomed to the Twitter by his daughter and actress, Shruti Haasan:
One of the happiest moments ever on Twitter !!!! Welcome my most favourite person @ikamalhaasan to twitter !!! Love you appa

To which Haasan replied:
Journalist Jitesh Pillai, director Nikhil Advani, actor Madhavan and Sivakarthikeyan were the other celebrities who welcomed Kamal Haasan to the social networking platform. When actress Trisha, Kamal’s co-star in his most recent Thoongavanam, welcomed him to the ‘crazy’ world of Twitter, Kamal gave a tongue-in-cheek reply:
@trishtrashers Thank you Trisha mam? you think this world is also crazy ? Let’s look at Jupiter for water and sanity then ?

Some of his fans used the occasion to flaunt their sense of humour:
Actor Sivakarthikeyan too, posted a warm welcome tweet:
Kamal has garnered 54.3k followers in two days, and he follows 15 accounts, including those of his daughters, Akshara and Shruti, and his life-partner, Gautami. Actor Rajinikanth too had joined Twitter in February 2013. However, the superstar isn’t very active on the social networking site.
