Kamal Haasan was invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2 to be a part of his Clean India campaign. The actor thanked the PM for inviting him and said, “I don’t think this is a new duty that I have been appointed to. This is in recognition of what I have already been doing and I thank the PMO for recognizing that. I have been doing this for the past twenty years with the help of my fans and this good work will continue.”
He also denied claims that the whole thing was a Public Relations excercise. “This is public work that I am a part of. So it is not just 9 more people that I will add, but nine million more if I can. I’m pursuing this independent of party, politics and philosophy.”
