The National Commission for Women (NCW) will take suo-moto action against Kamal Haasan for revealing the name of the actress who was recently abducted and sexually assaulted.
DNA reports that the Commission’s Chairwoman, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, said, “Will take a suo moto action against Kamal Haasan. We will soon send a notice.”
Kamal Haasan was speaking to the media when he said he wanted that all women should be safe, not just the actress. In the speech, he revealed the survivor’s name, something that is banned by law in cases of sexual assault. When it was pointed out to him, Kamal said, “It doesn’t matter if I have used the name. The media itself have used her name. Do not hide the name as there is nothing wrong with it. If you want to call her Draupadi, call her that. Don’t refer to her as ‘a female’.”
Meanwhile, the Hindu Makkal Katchi, a right-wing political party, has been protesting against Kamal Haasan for his participation in the Bigg Boss Tamil show. According to sources, the party is currently protesting against Kamal Haasan outside his Eldam’s Road office in Chennai. The party claims that the show is against Tamil values and must be stopped. A report says that security has been enhanced at Kamal Haasan’s residence on account of the protest.
