A Times of India report said that the producer sold the remake rights of Jigarthanda to Hindi director-producer Sajid Nadiawala, without receiving a proper consent from the director.

Reportedly, Karthik Subbaraj owns abut 40 percent of the remake rights and is upset about Kathiresan’s move.

Jigarthanda, starring Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon, is Karthik Subbaraj’s second movie. It received two National Awards in 2014 – for Best Supporting Actor and Best Editing. This gangster story has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Gavemic U Ary and editing by Vivek Harshan.
