Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon Start Shooting for Rohit Dhawan’s ‘Shehzada’, Film to Release in 2022

Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon At The 'Luka Chuppi' Success Meet

Kartik Aaryan took to social media on Wednesday and announced his upcoming film Shehzada, which will be directed by Rohit Dhawan and will star Kriti Sanon as the leading lady.


The shooting for the film started in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Shehzada is set to release theatrically on November 4, 2022. It also stars Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar.

Talking about the film, producer Bhushan Kumar said in a press release, “I’ve been wanting to mount a big-scale, action-packed, musical family film for a long time. I’m excited to be teaming up with Rohit Dhawan, Allu Arvind, and Aman Gill on this film. I’m eagerly looking forward to the magic Kartik, Kriti, Pritam and the rest of the team will create in Shehzada.”

The film is said to be a remake of the Telugu hit Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the film revolves around a young man who tries to seek validation from his ever-critical father.

According to the press release, Shehzada is an action-packed, musical, family film and it will be shot over various schedules in Mumbai and Delhi over the next several months.

Dhawan is once again collaborating with music director Pritam for this project.


Producer Aman Gill said in a press release, “Rohit has been working diligently and passionately over the last year to mount Shehzada in the biggest possible way. We all are excited to back his vision in bringing this film to audiences on the big screen in theatres next year. Allu sir and I are very happy to collaborate with Bhushanji for this film.”

Meanwhile, Aaryan also has Freddy, Dhamaka, and Sameer Vidwans’ directorial venture in the pipeline. The Vidwans film was initially titled Satyanarayan Ki Katha, but the filmmaker announced that it will be changed to avoid hurting religious sentiments. The now untitled project is expected to go on floors by the end of the year.
