Kaththi will be distributed by Shibu of Thameens in Kerala and we hear that they’re planning on releasing the film in more than 15o screens in the state. “We will know the exact details only around the 17th of this month.” said a spokesperson for Shibu. The distribution house has had a long and fruitful association with Vijay, having released Aadhi, Thuppakki and other films of his in Kerala. “We want to continue this relationship with Vijay and his films. That is why we’re looking at securing more screens than the ones that Thuppakki had.”

The actor has die-hard fans in the state and his movies are much anticipated, sometimes minting more money at the box office than the Malayalam films. Kaththi is scheduled to release on Deepavali this year and features Vijay in dual roles. The film was wrapped up only recently and the post production work is going on right now. The first copy of the film will be available in two weeks’ time, following which it will go to the censors.
AR Murugadoss has directed the film while Lyca Productions has bankrolled it. Ayngaran International has secured the European distribution rights.
