If Katrina does accept the role, this will be the first biopic in her career. The role was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra. Earlier, Priyanka Chopra played Mary Kom in a biopic on the boxer’s life. Interestingly Kaif’s upcoming film Bharat featuring Salman Khan, too, was originally offered to Priyanka Chopra who had to opt out later on.

PT Usha, known as the ‘Queen of Indian track and field’, is the country’s best known athlete and has competed at national and international sports, including the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where she set a Commonwealth record but was eventually placed 4th. She was awarded a Padma Shri, and the Arjuna medal for her contribution to Indian sports. Although retired from active sports, she currently coaches younger athletes.

The biopic will reportedly be made in several languages, and may feature music composed by AR Rahman, according to PinkVilla report. However, no official confirmation is out yet.

Katrina Kaif is currently gearing up for the release of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat. The movie marks the third collaboration between Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Abbas Zafar. Zafar directed Khan in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Katrina Kaif was part of Tiger Zinda Hai and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. In the recently released trailer, Kaif, in her no-nonsense role, was noticed by the viewers.

Expectations have been high ever since her last release Zero, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Aanand L Rai and featuring Anushka Sharma, the movie was universally panned save for Kaif’s performance. Her turn as Babita Kumari, an alcoholic actress fresh off from a break-up, won unanimous praise.

She had also been signed on by Rohith Shetty to star in his Sooryavanshi. Featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, the movie is about ATS chief Veer Sooryavanshi. The movie also marks her collaboration with Akshay Kumar after a gap of nine years.
