Katrina Kaif To Replace Priyanka Chopra In ‘Bharat’

Katrina Kaif will reportedly join Bharat. The actor was cast in the film by the makers after Priyanka Chopra opted out of the Salman Khan-starrer. According to Firstpost, Kaif will be joining the team in September, after she completes work on her current projects.

Jackie Shroff has also joined the cast and will reportedly be essaying the role of Khan’s father in the movie. Bharat, which went on floors last Sunday is a remake of the Korean movie Ode to My Father. The film features Khan as a stuntman and Disha Patani as a trapeze artist.

Priyanka Chopra who was last seen in 2016’s Jai Gangaajal was supposed to make her comeback with this film. She had confirmed her participation in the movie through a tweet.

Shortly thereafter, the director of the movie Ali Abbas Zafar had clarified about Chopra’s departure through a tweet that read “…the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her”. The tweet had strongly hinted at her wedding with rumoured boyfriend Nick Jonas.

Earlier, People’s magazine carried an article that said Chopra had already gotten engaged to Nick Jonas a week ago on her 36th birthday. Currently, she is shooting with Farhan Akhtar for The Sky is Pink directed by Shonali Bose of Margarita with A Straw fame. She has also been roped in for Krrish 4.

Kaif who was last seen alongside Khan in Tiger Zinda Hai has Zero and Thugs of Hindustan alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan respectively geared up for release this year. Kaif had worked with director Ali Abbas Zafar previously on Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Bharat marks the third collaboration between Salman Khan and director Ali Abbas Zaffar after Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, both of which emerged as one of the highest grossers of Bollywood.
